from one war to another and one disaster to another and see what
role the Red Cross has played during each war or humanitarian disaster.
Among the permanent exhibitions are The Written Work, Acts of Mercy,
The Battle of Solferino, The Foundation of the Red Cross, Towards
Universality, Prisoners of War, The First World War, Between the
Wars, The Second World War, 1945 to 80s and Today.
The United Nations, Geneva
Situated opposite the International Red Cross & Red Crescent
Museum, The UN office in Geneva is simply massive and today (despite
the fact that the HQ for the UN has been in New York since 1945)
still is a hive of activity. Built in 1936 as the headquarters for
the newly formed League of Nations, the building has witnessed some
remarkable historic events since its construction.
Guided tours are available to help you see and understand the role
the UN played in modern history. Topics, contemporary, historic
and future are covered during the tour which are run each day from
10am to 2pm (April thru October) and from 09am to 6pm (July thru
August). During the remainder of the year tours run from 10am to
12 pm and from 2pm to 4pm. A visit to the United Nations is something
that should not be missed during any trip to Geneva.
